Garage concrete floor coating

I had thought about not doing anything to the concrete due to concerns of coating being too slippery or cracking & failing. But I was fishing for ideas. The Euco appears to be what I was looking for. I will give the Euco information to my builder to see what he thinks and what he can dig up.

Find out who the contractors are for car dealerships, heavy-duty diesel and aviation floor coatings in your area or Birmingham.

Clean-up, glare-reduction, humidity control, etc are all improved. It helps to design the lighting to work with the coating type/color, I'm told.

One of the local Jag dealers here has white floors in service area. Impressive.

I'd do it just to be able to find the teeny little clips, etc, that are impossible to find on ordinary concrete.

I coated my shop floor with the Epoxy Shield product from Rustoleum about 3 years ago (I waited 2 years after the shop was built to do it). I have to say it's a great investment.

I suspect that there are few here who are harder on a shop floor than I am. I have a Ford tractor that parks on it all year round (in the winter with tire chains). I have a lift that gets all kinds of chemicals (oil, antifreeze, grease, etc) spilled under it. Not to mention the welding and other abuse that it takes.

I have one small area (about the size of a dime) that chipped when I spun a tractor tire with tire chains on it. Other than that the floor has held up perfectly.

I like the fact that I can lay down on the floor to work on something and not get covered with concrete dust. I also like being able to clean up spills with a paper towel.

If you decide to go the coating route make sure your builder is aware that he shouldn't coat the floor with anything before hand. Just let it cure for a year or so before coating it.

That's generally good advice, but there are exceptions. There are treatments that can be applied immediately that won't cause problems with other coatings later. IIRC, the Euco Diamond Hard is one of them.

I went for the immediate floor treatment because there was some heavy machinery going in my garage that I didn't want to move later to do a complete floor treatment.

I didn't think about asking the car dealerships what/who they used. Good idea.
I told my builder about it today & gave him the spec sheet. Regardless, we will wait at least until the sheetrock is done.
