Gaming PC Advice

Cybertron is cheaper than building yourself and mine used excellent parts. Not true top tier stuff, but excellent nonetheless. I would not get a GPU "lower" than a 4070Ti today, and really, the 4080S is the price/performance sweet spot. It sounds like $800 is a bit light unless you quickly want to be capped out. I try to keep my PC's for 5-8 years before I have to turn settings down from "Ultra" to achieve 80fps avg. without the 1%'s killing me.

This will make or break a gaming build.
avoid the RTX3050, it's a detuned 3060 and more a replacement for the discontinued RTX2030.
Even a 3060 is a lot better.
If you can get a 3060 Ti or 3070 Ti they are great value.
A 4060 Ti is the newer model and still reasonable, but after that costs get crazy.
NVIDIA has kinda stopped dramatically increasing performance with each generation so a 3050 is basically a 2030 replacement, same for 3060 and 4060, 3070 Ti and 4070Ti.
There are improvements but the primary difference is greatly increased cost.
EG I would take a 3060 Ti over a standard base 4060.
A 1080Ti still slaps plenty hard. I'd pick that over anything else until you get to the 4070Ti. I had a 1080TI and a 4060Ti and the benchmarks were SUPER similar but the 1% lows on the 1080 were much better, in game.

A 4060 is a great GPU.
From memory what I didn't like was something along the lines of the data transfer bandwidth was halved or something. A 3060 Ti can shift data faster with the motherboard. It was over a year ago. At the time the 3070 Ti were being dumped $500 off and were around same price as a 4060.

Yeah, I get it and I don’t like it either how Nvidia and AMD neuter their lower tier cards just to make the performance difference more noticeable.

But it is what it is and there is nothing really that can be done about it outside of a massive boycott, which we all know isn’t going to happen. Buying sensibly is just about what we can do at this point. And 4060 at below $300 point is a pretty sensible choice IMO.

I agree.
If I could get a 3060 much cheaper than a 4060 I would stay with a 3060 because they are pretty close anyway.
Otherwise I would just get a 4060 or if you wanted something with a meaningful performance increase then a 3070 Ti or 4070.
Any higher though cost seems to get prohibitive.
