The ultrasound apparently didn't show stones. When the doctor told me that, I thought, well, maybe it's just reflux, and I'm misinterpreting the symptoms. I took some Prilosec, and followed a more "normal" diet for a couple of days. I had the worst attack yet. So I went back to my doctor and told him about it, and now I'm awaiting a referral to a gastroenterologist to see what he thinks.

Could be an inflamed duct, or who knows.

Good luck.
There are some cleanses to be found on the net.Usually lemon juice, olive oil and coca cola combos or lots of granny smith apples followed by olive oil.Sleep in a certain position and then spend the day on the toilet.

A friend did this while having gall bladder problems and claimed it helped.

Good Luck and hopefully the Docs get it sorted quickly for you.
Hopefully you have a better go than my Brother did...

A Couple Years back,(sept, 2008) My older Brother started having Terrible, Crippling abdominal pains.. the kind where getting out of bed is out of the question. Went to his Doc. Couldn't find anything. Went to the Nearest Hospital (associated with the one he works for), they run all sorts of tests, can't find anything wrong with him. He starts getting Looks from some of the Nurses, as if he's making it up to get meds.
Finally a Doctor says that it might be his Gallbladder, and they schedule the surgery.
in post op, the Doc tells him, Nope, that wasn't it, Gallbladder was Perfectly pink and healthy when we took it out. That'll be $30,000 please...(ok, he didn't say that last part, but that was the national average price for that operation at that time)
Pains didn't stop. finally he got referred to a Gastric Specialist @ the Univ. Hospital he works for.
Right away, the doc thinks he knows what it is, and schedules a test.
the Test Consists of feeding him Irradiated scrambled eggs, then parking him in a scanner for a couple hours. (so they can track the Progress of the food.)
Turns out he has Gastro-Paresis, the Nerves controlling the muscles emptying his stomach were not working, and as a result, the food wasn't moving on down the line anywhere near fast enough. it was sitting in the stomach and starting to rot.
(he lost a lot of weight those 2 months, with the not really being able to eat..)
Had to Severely Modify his Diet, extremely low fat, low Fiber(well he could have fiber, but not FIBER, had some meds to take to help flush his system, One of which he had to mail order from Canada, B/C There was Never a US Clinical Trial, and it's Gone Generic in the rest of the world, so no chance of getting it here now...

as to what caused the Gastro Paresis? No one Knows. it can Start and stop on it's own. completely without warning.

For the Most part he's back to normal now, but still has to watch the fats, etc. in general eat better.

He's also Developed an MSG Allergy, and Gluten Sensitivity (Not Celiac, just a sensitivity)

Sorry to hear that.

Never had Gall Stones but had Kidney Stones. Neither can be any fun.

Good luck with GB.

Hopefully if you had Gallstones you have passed them already.

This, everyone to a certain extent is Gluten intolerant, in my vertebrate biology course in college they showed how GMO(genetically modified organism) have caused more harm then the original benefit perceived.

I know someone who lost ~35 lbs out of the blue... an RN thinks it's her gallblader but the docs don't have enough to go on to go take it out. Passed ultrasound.

Saw a gastroenterologist, got scoped, they thought, huh, must be something you ate. Must be a rough field to work in, no answers for your patients.

Tried gluten free, but you have to be religious-- new kitchenware, toaster, etc.

Eventually got slightly better, but lettuce and peanuts are still a no-no.

It's scary finding yourself in pain and not having a firm diagnosis. I hope the GE can narrow it down and you're better soon.

My son has just returned back to school after being out for 3 months (Great Senior semester in High School). Doctors couldn’t figure out what was wrong, with cat scans, mris and a spinal tap, then one Monday, 3 weeks after the 1st catscan, the Doctor’s office called and said to take him down to the ER ASAP and that his appendix needs to come out (Apparently they had a 2nd look at the catscan). So it came out and he still had nausea and headaches. To make this already long story shorter, the Doctors are now claiming he has a severe case of acid reflux. Yea, right, I say since 3 weeks after that diagnose, he’s still suffering.

I had my gallbladder out about ten years ago.

The pain would usually start after I ate greasy food, (fried chicken, bacon, etc). I would get severe chest pains which would last 20 minutes to an hour. This would be followed by what felt like claws digging into the middle of my back and someone dripping battery acid on my stomach. I would get in the shower and run it as hot as I could stand it. This would help for about 20 minutes. Then I would puke and feel better.

Finally, one night, I honestly thought I was going to die. Figured I was having a heart attack. At 5 am, my wife drove me to the ER. Long story short, they ran tests and by seven that night, I was in surgery. According to the doctor, I had two stones the size of eggs and a lot of "gravel."

I've been fine ever since.

Have you noticed your attacks coming on after eating something fried or oily, (like potato chips or French fries)?

Hope and pray that your pain goes away and you feel better soon.
