Local Walmart has G-oil Full Synthetic on sale for $16/5qt jug. Good deal??

My stash is down to 20 qts. of M1, 2 gal of T-6 and a gal of T-5. Not sure if I should buy more oil as the 94 GC has been retired, (240K, transmission finally failed), the 2000 GC (152K), will be replaced with a 2013 GC this month, and I'm just not driving as much as I used to.

Anyway, what's the word on G-oil?

They couldn't move it at that price at my Walmart. They knocked it down to $10 and that finally did it.

You might want to check with the manager in the Auto/TLE department to see how long they have been on clearance and if/when the price will be reduced further. The Walmart near my office had a bunch at $21/5 qt jug and $5/qt bottle for months with none of it selling. When I asked, the manager checked the price marker, saw that it had been on clearance for about 2 1/2 months and cut the price right then and there to $11/5 qt jug and $2.50/qt bottle. That was enough to get me to clean them out and expand my oil stash by 45 quarts!

From what I've read here, it is a good oil but the older formulation (the 5 qt bottles that are kinda pointy) does not have a high starting TBN and/or does not maintain its TBN very well so it is not well suited to extended drains. The newer formulation (more normal jug design, I haven't seen it as I have the old formulation) is supposed to be better for extended drains.

I have so much FAR G-Oil that it would have to get down to a buck a quart before I'd even think about buying any, and I think that may also be true for a number of memebers here.

Yes with the stash you have, I would wait for the next less than a $ a quart deal.

I'll be adding to it with the upcoming purchase of another member's stash of HGMO 0W-20 SM.
Less than a dollar a quart net is how you build a stash, unless you come across an oil you really want to use, like the HGMO SM.

I'll be paying $5.00/qt for this oil, but I think it's worth it.
High VI and high moly compared to the current Honda stuff.
Also, if you believe the Honda MM, drains should easily reach 9-10K as I drive the car, so oil cost per mile is quite low.
