Hi all,

Today I bought one gallon of G-12 Plus Plus from the dealer at their regular price of $22 without tax. That comes to $5.81 per liter, which seems inexpensive to me. The VW part number for one gallon G-12 Plus Plus is G-012-A8G-1G.

I also saw Pentosin's Pentofrost ++, which is identical to G-12 Plus Plus, at a local auto parts shop. A 5 liter jug cost $47.95 without tax. That comes to $9.59 per liter.

Cheers,
-J

OEM G12++ is literally made by Pentosin, it's the same fluid....says so right on the bottle. Why someone would want to pay 2x as much is beyond me.

I wouldn't call $22/gal inexpensive for OE coolant, but about the high average. It might be inexpensive relative to the high prices of Pentosin. Zerex was, maybe still is, supplying G12++ to Audi/VW and that might explain why it is cheaper than coolant supplied from Germany.

Hi mechanicx,

I was comparing the price of the VW OEM coolant* to the price of VW OEM coolant bought from an independent shop. Until now, the coolant at the dealer has always cost at least double compared to the same OEM product from other sources.

Cheers,
-J

* an OEM product that says either G-12 Plus Plus, ++, or G012AG81 on the container
