G-05 Brand Identification?

????

There is a lot of ethelyne glycol coolant varieties that are not GO-5. Neraly all coolant is ethelyne glycol.

Valvoline's Zerox GO-5 is prominately identified on the front label. Other's may show that they are the same as what is used by the newest Rord and Chrysler products.

G-05 is the brand name used by zerex, as they said above.

The type of formula it is is HOAT.. hybrid organic acid technology.

In my case, I haven't seen G-05 since Prestone "all makes" came out and took all the shelf space. I am told that NAPA has it.

The same coolant as G-05 is found at Ford, Chrysler or Mercedes dealers too.. their yellow or gold coolants.

OK, Thanks. I'll look for the Zerex G-05 at PepBoys as I hope to change out the coolants on my two cars. They both have the Ford Green stuff and I want to change to the G-05.

The label that says "G-05" on the jug does not jump out at you. You have to read the front of the gold jug to find it.

Has anyone found a G-05 antifreeze for less than the $10.99 price at Pep Boys? I still can't find G-05 in most of the auto parts or discount stores.

I find Peak's website a little confusing. The company lists CF-EXL as meeting the requirements for Ford and Daimler Chrysler and list the two automaker's internal material acceptance specifications, MS9769 (D-C), and WSS-M97B51-A1 (Ford) respectively. That would seem to leave little doubt that CF-EXL is a G-05 formula. But those same automaker specs are listed for Peak Global Lifetime Antifreeze/Coolant, too, as well as GM's DEX-COOL specification, 6277M.

Peak's website lists its Global Lifetime Antifreeze/Coolant as a 2-EH OAT and devoid of both silicates and phosphates - which defines it as a "dexclone". I wasn't able to find any such inclusions or exclusions of silicates under the CF-EXL's description or its MSDS, so I'm not sure just what Peak's stance is in the matter of adhering to specific automaker recommendations with that formulation. If you know you want G-05 (reduced silicates/OAT hybrid technology), but are unwilling to pay stealership pricing for it under Mopar, Ford Premium Gold, Mercedes-Benz, or BMW labeling, get the Zerex G-05 and at least know you've bought the real McCoy. If you plan to leave it in for two years or longer, the coupla bucks you might save with CF-EXL is probably immaterial, anyway.
