Here they are cut open. White is typical Chinese jobber filter. Black seems to be a standard wix except no country of origin on the can or date code

The Black looks fairly typical OG Wix. The separate bypass piece I've only seen on Wix labeled Napa Gold OFs. While I would much prefer it to be US made (Gastonia NC), if it is offshored, quality looks decent. Last Napa Gold I c&p'd recently, couldn't find date on it either, but it said made in US.

The white doesn't look bad either. One can see how with the bypass piece, more room in can for element. But, unlike the off shored ProSelect jobber with M&H Wix coil spring, FVP has flat spring. Could be made by M&H in China, or not.

Cost with ready availability and efficiency unknown. I might go out on a limb and say black same as Wix/Napa Gold, still but be speculating.

Thanks for pics.

Thanks for cutting them open. I was planning to do the same myself, but you beat me to it. I would be happy to contribute towards the cost of those filters.

Rockauto they’re only a little cheaper than wix so I don’t see the point
I think FVP has set “flat-rate pricing” for their filters on rockauto. All of the spin-on XL’s appear to be $4.55 and all of the cartridge XL’s are either $4.55 or $6.75. Depending on the cost of the Wix filter (e.g. 57561), there can be a significant cost savings.
