2014 is here, hallelujah!
Anyway, buddy and I were talking, though I don't get out of the military for a few more years, and every year reenlistments getting tighter and tighter to get as the wars are dwindling down, we had a talk about what to do if we can't or don't reenlist.
I want to go to college, eventually, police academy, fire fighting academy and UTI have become interests. Though still being young, him and I talked about the peace corps.

With the peace corps, being prior military when it comes, and being combat arms as well, not many skills to pass to wherever they send us. But it seems like a respectable gig, and for future career paths we may take, the military has it's veterans benefits applying for them. Would the peace corps also have a good rep in these cases? Placing both that and military experience on a resume must have a good plus to it.

Though, I enjoy helping people. I'd rather go to night starving as long as everyone else is going to bed with a full stomach. Take after my mother when I was a kid and she was divorced...

Anywho, any past peace corps volunteers here? Thanks!

What about a PMC? Doing a six figure stint for a year or two with a PMC than going to college or trade school on the GI bill always seemed like a good armed forces exit strategy.

When I was in college a few years back their were a number of guys in my business classes that did a few tours in the sandbox, some poorly paid with Uncle Sam and a couple very, very well paid with Halliburton or Che or whatever they call themselves these days. Then free college.

Granted this was back during the surge days.
