My old man has a 01 Lexus LS430, full package w/ navi, chrome wheel and even back seat massager (I don't even know tey had this kind of thing back in 2001). It has more than 200K, probably 230K on the odometer. My old man drives a lot recently, easily 40-50k miles a year.
Someone rear-ended him recently, so his car was in body shop and he had a civic coupe as loaner (my old man looks funny in that coupe). He's impressed with the gas mileage of this compact car, and then i asked him if he asked the body shop owner to include an oil change along the way since the car has to be raised anyway, this is the conversation between us:

Him: No, my oil change is not due yet.
Me: How many miles you have on the current oil fill.
Him: I don't remember, i usually run those oil more than 10K with good oil. ( Me: Good dad, with synthetic and you drive freeway 80 mph all day long, it's possible to push that far in your car, so what oil you use exactly? (I was hoping something like a Mobil 1 Extended Performance)
Him: I don't remember, it's a green bottle... You know son, those oil actually can go up to 75000 miles! I sometimes feel a waste of changing those oil so early. It's cheaper than the Mobil 1.

Me thinking: 75K [censored], no Fxxxing way, was he referring to mobil clean 7500 and mistakenly see it as 75000?... And i can't recall what oil is in green bottle with 75000 in the label. Maxlife??? You running maxlife or something else for 15K ?

Me: Dad, no oil can go for 75K, the label with 75000 in front is probably referring to "high mileage vehicle" You cannot go that far, i say the maximum you can go even under optimal condition like driving all day long on freeway is probably 15K oci.

Him: Okay then, oh yeah some mechanics told me i don;t have to change the oil filter everytime, i can change it every other time. It saves me lots of hassle to unscrew that filter and screw it back.

Me: I don't know about that dad, but if you really change filter every other time, you have to use a good one, at least OEM or something better, don;t buy the cheapest one in auto parts shop.

Him: (didn't address the filter issue)

And then we change subject to something else.

Here's the thing, my dad has limited english, and pretty bad at reading label...
Can someone here tell me what kind of oil has a green bottle and have "70000" or "75000" on the label?
And also, do you guys think he can do filter change every othe time, given his driving condition?
Oh yeah, he lives in Nevada, pretty hot up there right now.

Someone totaled my IS300 recently, and i have a Mobil 1 filter left, turn out to be the M1-102 can be used on 3.0 I6 and also on his 4.3 V8.
His car is still in pretty good condition, got some minor scratches and freeway ding in the front, but the engine is super smooth and quiet. Wish he will pass the car to me

Any thought guys?

Only green bottle I can think of like that would be Max Life Next Gen.

I would tell him to use a P1 filter or better, and change it every time. If you feel charitable you could donate your Mobil 1 filter to him.

Oh my god, looks like he's been running the GTX for a while...
Thanks for the picture.
I will pass my Mobil 1 filter to him for sure.
I wonder how he can manage to get more than 200K out of it, or it's like what thescreensaverssaid, the V8 is really robust?
I kind of want to open up the engine and take a picture out of it, see if there's any sludge.

It just proves that most(foreign) vehicles will run 10-15000 on good conventional or synthetic without ill effects and most of us are wasting time worrying about it. The 3000-7500 oil change is a myth created by the oil change industry .Severe conditions like dusty roads or poorly maintained engines do far more damage than what dad is doing. Dad is running the highways which is very easy on oils.
Plus he has a motor that is known for longevity.
Now if was in a Chrysler sebring , that is a different situation.

His car will probably survive just fine but ...

Since it's ur dad's car, why not change his oil with Amsoil Signature Series 5w30 or redline 5W30 and an amsoil or Mobil 1 filter. It will make u feel good and he can go a year without much worry.

If not, get us a used oil analysis of that Castrol High Mileage at 75,000 miles!

7500 or 75000, whats the difference? my dad had perfect english and he didnt give a rats A about oil changes, he would usually just add to the 1980 ford truck and engine always ran great

If oil had to constantly be added, the engine was not in good shape even if it appeared to be running great.

He said he uses 5W30, I suppose it is the right viscosity back then.
Don't know what's the oil capacity of the engine though, I don't think my dad read the manual, he probably does it the old school way, which is looking at the dip stick.
