I think they would run pretty even in a race, but the Z seems like it would def out handle the GT. BTW the Z and the Mustang I'm working on are going to be left as stock as possible.

I think my stock Sportwagen would hang with an NA 300ZX - a $450 tuner and better rubber and I'd hang in with your GT.
Stock, I'm sure the GT easily outpaces the Z. Without the TT the Zs were not that impressive.

We're talking about cars that are all stock. If I put equal money into a Modular or LS motor then of course it's a different ballgame. The Mustang has got to have more power than a Sportwagon anyways, and we're talking about a car that's 17 and 27 years old, not a new car that's 20K.

This car will come in at under 5K. That will include new Alpine audio, full maintenance, etc. Car will be 100%. 2000 Mustang GT with 106,000 miles. All stock, unmolested car with minor crash damage.

Yeah you are mistaken.

My mistake, I was repeating a co-workers experience at a dealership. I think the co-worker was shocked at the price of an oil change and the service rep said whatever it took to convince them it was lot of labor.
I should have checked before posting. Thanks
They went to an independent "shop" and the car became a mess. Sold it. Sad.

Mine is a blast. Though, it's turbocharged and 407RWHP.

I do see them for reasonable prices around here. But mostly higher miles. Be forewarned, while the S2000 is a fun car and does go many miles without wearing out, it is not "Honda" reliable. There are a small number of issues that continually pop up on them. Most are not expensive to fix, but can be frustrating if you are not a DIY and S2K forum kind of person. As the local shop will be completely confused by some of the issues. For example, the timing chain tensioner tends to allow too much chain slap. Leading to annoying noises. The "fix" is not a new OEM tensioner. It's a modification. Easy to DIY, but without the knowledge, your local shop is not going to know how to do it, and probably won't take the time to search the S2K forums.

There is a Suburban on another thread you can probably pick up cheap. It doesn't start-but think of all the money you will save on gas!
