Fuel system cleaners...which method is better?

Hello all.

Here is my question:
I have a fuel system cleaner, Redline SI-1, which can either be used 1 bottle for 10 gallons for quick clean up OR 1 bottle for 150 gallons.

Which method would be the better one? The 15X strength would only last 1/15 as long.

Comments? Ideas??

Gunk Gas Treatment is very effective rated 10

You could go Fuel Power combine Neutra with toluene.

I took someone advice.

1. 2.5 quarts Fuel Power, 1 quart Neutra, and one 4 oz. can of Toluene. This gives you the following advantages:
a.) Cleaning of Fuel System,
b.) Cleaning of Combustion Chamber deposits,
c.) A slight increase in octane rating for marginal fuels,
d.) lubricates and plates valve seats to reduce valve recession.

The treatment rate is 1 oz. per 10 gallons."

There's a theory floating around that a high concentrate fuel cleaning may break off "chunks" of deposits, which could work their way in to your oil. There, they could score the inside of your engine (bearings, etc...).

If your engine is in need of such a cleaning, you could probably run a tank of it and then change your oil. This would minimize any wear the chunks of deposits could cause.

Like I said, this is only a theory, but seems very possible. Others may have better ideas.

Fasty...Thanks for the link and while it wasn't quite the answer I was looking for I found the thread of value. I wish I had read the thread before I put 1/2 bottle in my ~12 gallon fuel tank. bummer.

Dave H...your reply makes sense to me and i can understand how strengthening the cleaner concentration could remove more gunk at a time than would be recommended.

Thanks both for the response. Man, this is such a great forum, a person could get lost and spend hours nay days pouring over all this information.
