Started the FP regime in the Maxima 435 miles ago. Without any real deviation in my driving habits/routes, I am averaging about 1.7 more MPG. I have backed up the in-car fuel computer against my Harrison/Palm datalogger and the results are the same. 93 octane goes in as per the manual recommendation for full performance potential. I get fuel at the same station and enviromental conditions around here have been fairly consistent. I've done a baseline ignition timing log since the car was new 4763 miles ago. I thought maybe it was finally over the "break-in" hump but it started the MPG climb almost as soon as the FP went in. I will drop to 89 and check to see if the timing retards any, if not, then down to 87 for another check. Bottom line, this stuff seems to work as advertised and verifies the good reports from others on this board. I like it

Shortyb. How do you do this base line ignition timing? Terry has suggested that FP, when added to regular unleaded, will provide the base fuel with a bump in octane, and that he observed no spark retardation. I’m just curious how this is observed. I’d like to verify this on my Volvo S70. The vehicle has coil on plug ignition, drive by wire throttle body, and variable exhaust valve timing. Is this something that an advanced OBDII reader or software can do?

I do mine with a Harrison OBDII scanner. Its a Palm Pilot software package that will monitor several parameters in real-time. Check here:

I keep it plugged into the OBD port and watch my timing advance. I have been playing around with it to see if anything causes any timing retard. Hasn't yet. I give the credit to Terry Dyson for suggesting the Fuel Power and going to a lower octane fuel. This is why I'm doing the timing checks. I need to have a base to fall back on when I do drop the octane level.

i would like to try that thing out! that would really help me sometimes. ill use it in my car probably to read the idle and see if anything minor is malfuntioning...but in my other cars i can really use that caus eim lazy hehe.

my newest car is a obd2 but my other 2 is obd1...i wanna buy that...and return it after a week LOL

I met up with Odis this afternoon (along with his nephew) while he was in town making a delivery.

My second gallon of FP.

Pays for itself so well in my applications that it's become too expensive NOT to use it.

My old '71 Chrysler never skips a beat, and I'm looking forward to a slightly faster advance curve once I pull the distributor. It seems to be really cleaning out the combustion chambers!

Is this stuff safe to be used every tank fill? Any harm to Cat Converters? What is its purpose? What's the doseage? Where to get it from?
Thanks.Rick

Odis has offered to sponsor the board, so pretty soon there will be a direct link to contact him for Fuel Power and Lube Control.

Glad you brought it up, Patman, I didn't feel it to be my place to have done so. Terry must have finally worn him down

I said to him that while I have recommended LC/FP to numerous people it is possible they were uncomfortable not being able to look at a page on the Web and postponed their purchase.

He's a great guy (and his wife lovely to speak with), so I wished him the best as he "teaches the old dog a new trick".

And I'll bet he gets swamped in short order, so ya'll be patient!!

Thats good news. I didn't want to overstep my bounds and give out his # without his approval. I think from talking with Odis, he will be most happy to accomodate folks and glad his product will get some more "seat-time".

I believe he mentioned that someone is helping him with the website. He says that he'll be the first to admit being a computer novice. Good luck to him and hope he shows up here soon.
