Hello friends.

I checked the oil on my Jeep and some got on my fingers. There's a VERY heavy gasoline odor present. I'm currently running 6 qts of Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. I have 141,000 miles on the odometer. What gives. Thanks.

check your codes from the ECU. check your plugs. check compression. thermostat. anything that would affect ignition, fuel mapping.

Is the oil level high? This is another clue.
If you actually note a rise in level, you have major fuel dilution problems.
Leaking injector and a bad coolant temp sensor are 2 high priority things to check.
Also a fuel pressure regulator [or FP sensor].

It smells like fuel-fuel, not charcoal fluid. I'll check that thermostat thing & yes, the oil is a like a 1/4 inches above full. I also popped my rear pump seal when I pulled 107 mph racing a H2; there was madd smoke everywhere and a lot of oil all along the underbody. I'll keep everything in mind - thanks everyone.

No offense intended Army Guy, and with all due respect, but I believe you have bigger problems here than fuel dilution.

ARMY_Guy,
You may have other issues with your engine as-far-as excessive fuel entering/polluting the oil but, if it's any consolation to you, each time I check the oil in any vehicle ever, I always smell some fuel in the oil...Sometimes more than other times!

This assumes your talking about unburnt fuel...After sitting for a few hours....Pull your pcv hose and the breather tube that connects to your air intake. Take a sniff of each one. If you don't smell gas there you know the problem is external. If you do, the culprit is likely leaky injector(s)

Ok.. the oil level is rising, right?
This should never happen - it is a bad fuel dilution sign.
Got to dig deeper now.
Maybe the oil dump you had caused a severe oil loss and ruined the rings/pistons/cylinder bores.

Perhaps there's a lesson in there somewhere.

The last 2 cars I ran into with severe fuel dilution had either choke issues or ruptured fuel pumps. A long time ago, I had an 84 caddy with a bad TPS that dumped fuel into the oil.

You own a jeep, your running Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck and you race hummers....sounds like a true jeeper and alot like me. LOL

I haven't raced one yet but got to pull one out in the mud, he is stuck here as i went threw to get him. LOL

as for the smell of fuel in the oil, Im guessing you have a 4.0L since your running 6 quartz of oil, in my 4.0L i never smell any trace of gasoline.

Love that pic. The only Real Hummer was the one that the Army issued me. Uncle Sam took that one back. But nothing beats my JKU

Yeah a faster vehicle...

A quick blip of the throttle with my Marauder and a H2 is past history...
