Terry, I can change my oil for 2 year with M1 for what one OCI with Fuchs Titan cost's. For the type of money they want for the product I would actualy expect much better wear numbers especialy seeing how it is a Toyota with low miles onthe OCI!Heck for $12.99 a gallon I am sure that Rotella-T Synthetic would turn in better numbers for a messly 5000Kms OCI!

Following your logic, we should see all negative numbers in the wear metal column of a used oil analysis of Helix Ultra 10w60.

G-Man, I do think that if a product cost more it should offer more! Only a fool would pay top dollar for an inferior product. So I think that their are a lot of people with more money then brains in reguards to the whole Shell Helix thing!!!

Well, neither the Fuchs or Helix are what I'd call "inferior."
 
John are you saying that the Toyota engine that was tested with the Fuchs was in perfect shape and nothing was stressing the 0w20? You must indeed be a oil analysis expert!

Cost of product or marketing is not my forte. I do know this is a excellent lube and many have copied its cutting edge formulation.

Terry my point is that for $20 or more per quart the delta in performance should be greater!His used oil analysis on record looked better useing thicker cheaper oils. I belive he even admitted that fuel consuption was the main reason he was sticking with this oil.The good Dr. Hass has provided some nice comparison.

G-Man, Nothing about Shell Helix impress's me other then the price that some OEM's are able to charge for it! In the few UOA we have of it the oil has not done anything impressive. In most cases just about every other oil used even 5W20's has done better at preventing wear.

Reminds me of the Synergyn 0w-20 I tried a few years back, except that was loaded with AW & EP adds for racing....

I figure if the Germans are making high end synlubes, they may just know what they're doing.:) As I recall, they were playing around with synthetics before the end of WWII.

This is indeed an interesting add pack...of course piston engine aviation oils like Exxon Elite and TC-W3, two stroke oils also severely limit metallic adds to prevent combustion chamber and plug deposits. So it's not like this idea is totally new, even to an old shade tree tribologist livin' in a doublewide...;)

Hi Guys.
This is my first W20 used oil analysis.Every thing looks ok except 43ppm Sodium.i will stay with Fuchs GT1 0w-20 here after.Will do another used oil analysis around 5000kms to make sure no coolant leak developing.Will stay 15000km oil change intervals if every thing looks ok.

I wish more people would use this product. Its decently priced (cheaper than Redline here). I might give this a go but the 0W20 is giving me a bit of a scare in my heavily worked turbo 4 cyl. I reckon it'd thin out too much for my liking under high temps (>110C). But yes the zinc-less AW/EP system has me intrigued.
 
Thanks Primus. That was my only concern with this oil.
6.9% for a 0w20 is impressive. Now if I could only find it in the U.S.
