So the pot holes of winter scored a win on one of my front wheel bearings, still to determine which one, sounds like left to me and that's where my flat occurred but both sides took some hits. Rockauto sells National, Beck/Arnley, Timken and SKF bearings. Anyone have any bad experiences with any of these for a sealed bearing. Also, are there other parts which I should get for this job? Hopefully the hub is okay and the clip can be reused, correct? Thanks

On a '12? Wow hyundai using cheap parts eh? Economy is bad and the parts quality is going down I think.
I used drive works from AAP which is made by national if I remember correctly and it's held up perfectly in the ridiculous Chicago pot holes for 5 months this winter even though the reviews suggested otherwise. I paid 15-20 for each side.

I asked this question earlier this week about my Jeep.
Unless its a manufacturing defect, the seal must get damaged and grit then gets past the seal. Pot holes will not do that.

I'll second drive works, just replaced inner and outer bearings on a Chevy astro on both front wheels, all 4 driveworks bearings were of excellent quality. However I imagine the bearing in a 12' elantra is a bit different.. If it were mine, Id probably go with beck arnley, they seem to make alot of good quality parts for asian vehicles.

Just what I was bout to say. Take it to the dealer. Should be covered under warranty free of charge.

Yep, should be part of the 10/100K powertrain warranty or whatever Hyundai has today, provided you're the original owner, or direct family. 5/60K for everyone else.
I know when I had my used 2008 Santa Fe AWD, I traded it in when the 3rd WB started going. They were ~$500 a pop to have done by an independent shop. First one went at just over 60K mi.
First one that went was the right rear. Went from what sounded like tire noise to a roar so bad I thought the car was going to break apart.

A wheel bearing isn't powertrain. Powertrain is mostly things internal to the engine or transmission. So he's on his own. IIRC that '12 Elantra has a high number of miles since it's a highway commuter.
Timken or SKF for the bearing. Do it right, do it once. I've had a horrible experience with cheap wheel bearings.

I think as long as it's not obvious that an impact caused the problem it would have been covered, but since it did I don't know how it would have played. Doesn't matter. And the bearing is etched SKF and has the Hyundai and Kia emblem. Korea. BAH-0155A and M04K12. Looks like it's a genuine Hyundai bearing? I guess I should be happy with it.
