really the Fram Extra gaurd is not too bad of a filter, though Wix,Baldwin/Hasting is better for about the same price,,,Super Tech new generation may be compairable to Fram extra,,,,BL

Hi folks, This is my first time on this subject of oil filters. Back in 1989 I bought a new Honda Civic for comuting about 90 miles per day. I bought one of every oil filter available around where I lived and used them and then cut them apart to see how they were made. The fram filter was so cheaply made I swore off them right then and there. I finaly settled on Wix or Honda brand filters although AC brand filters were made like the better Wix and Honda brand but about half price. I can't say how well the media filtered on each brand but I can say that I didn't trust the Fram. On another Note I stopped by the NAPA dealer in town to get a new filter for my Excel mower with a 4cyl Ford industrail engine and they have NAPA GOLD filters on sale for 1/2 price for the next two weeks! I stocked up right then and I'm going back when he restocks next week. FWIW I had been using the Motorcraft FL 400S filter on my mower and I read in the master catalog that the "S" means Silicone ADBV and I noticed it was a red or orange color. With the 1/2 price sale I paid $3.50 for the NAPA GOLD about the same as the Motorcraft. Go getum.

None of my friends use fram oil filters not even my relatives

. One of my friends swears by supertech oil filters and that is fine by me. I happen to be a purolator, wix and champion labs made filter fanatic

My dad takes his car to wally world to get his oil changed and he asks them to put a, supertech oil filter instead of a fram, not because of all the anti-fram stuff going around...he gets a $1.88 credit on the oil change since the supertech is cheaper.

What's funny about that is, your dad is actually getting a much higher quality filter. And in his mind he probably thinks it's really an inferior filter to Fram because of the $1.88 credit. In this case, someone''s actually doing his car a favor by cheapskating! Cool!

What is the beck arney??

In my youth 30 years ago Beck Arney was an importer of foreign auto parts. They put their name on the boxes. I don't think they actually made any parts themselves. So you could possibly get multiple manufactures for the same Beck Arney part #. But maybe 30 years later it's different
