It is my understanding the new Nissan automatic transmissions use a special friction modifier. Does anyone know what the friction modifier is in the Matic J fluid? Or, how to have a fluid reverse engineered to isolate this modifier?

Proprietary, highly friction modified ATFs have become the norm - whether discussing a Hyundai or a Maybach. What I can't figure out is why some owners attempt to second-guess the company whose engineers designed the trannies and developed the ATF specs suitable for their smooth and reliable operation, and, said company, which also supplies the warranty. But, good luck in your quest.

And if we did, what would we do with that information?

silent06, is interested in using LC in this fluid and wondering about compatibilty with the FM and other adds in this obscure ATF.

I am not familiar enough with the fluid formulation to give a honest answer.

For a treatment rate of 1 oz./10,000 miles, I don't see any problems.

LC doesn't contain any friction modifiers that could upset the mix.

The friction modifier in Nissan J fluids is a complex amine.

MolaKule,

Should I limit my treatment rate to 1oz./10,000 miles? Or, Is it possible to use a 4oz./10,000 miles dosage?
