It's really no better in the office with broadband on a Windows desktop. It always seems to struggle with a relatively tiny update. And if it's a big one, oh boy. I make sure it's set to only let me do the updates for that reason, when I can do it after hours and not worry about the incessant and slow restarts.
Fresh install of Windows 7 - won't load updates.
