Frequency of Fuel filter change

I change mine about every 30K on cars and pickups, and about every 10K on the motorhome, which is about three years.

60k here. Saturn has a good sized filter for as much fuel as it uses.

In tank, when it fails
Regular in line filter about every 30K is great.
Go a little past we won't call the police.
Go 100K and you pump gives out I won't cry for you either.

Iwould be changing gas stations. FWIW, 2 of the junked 528es I have parted out recently have had original BMW filters on them. I swapped my filter at 8 yrs and 150k, the idle climbed about 200rpm afterward. I buy my gas at high volume stations and will pass by one if I see a tanker truck in the lot.

I have a 01 Ram 1500 pick-up with the filter in the tank. Would I be correct in assuming that the filter is something like a screen covering the intake that prevents the pick up of crud buts leaves it sloshing around in the tank?
