I change mine every 30,000. Its an 01 Ford Ranger 4.0 SOHC.

The scary thing is, my 04 Avalanche has no user-serviceable fuel filter. It's part of the fuel pump within the tank. I guess you just have to replace the fuel filter everytime it takes out your fuel pump. Luckily for GM, this isn't likely to happen during the warranty period.
Somebody said this was due to emissions on 04's and up....but it just seems insane to me.
