Free Scheduled Maintenance?

I have free scheduled maintenance and the dealer didn't try any funny stuff at all. I just got an invoice listing everything they did, and $0 due. Very easy and painfree.

Thanks.

Nope.

But tire rotation is not included in free maintenance.

Yep, just "pre-purchased".

Not really, MB did not have free scheduled maintenance for model year 1999, they did for model year 2000 and the price did not increase more than inflation. They dropped the free scheduled maintenance after model year 2004 and the price of model year 2005 still increase 4-5% over 2004.

The MB free scheduled maintenance from 2000 to 2004 was more than oil change, they also included brake flush, coolant flush, tire rotation, wiper insert and few others. I left the car at dealer and got a free MB rental for a day, just pay for gas.

I can see the manufacturer of what has proven (or suspected of) being particularly problem prone may throw in free servicing so that they can control the quality of the lubricants/processes, ensure that the servicing is done on time, and that any sneaky little adjustments/fixes are carried out while the vehicle is still under warranty.

It could save them reputation, or even money in unfailed components.

Unless you watched every move they made every second they had it I doubt they checked everything and did everything...But if you saw them do everything they must be awesome dealer

My sister dropped her car off at the yoto dealer awhile back [when she had it] and they were supposed to do a 5K mile service...We dropped it off and went for breakfast...A big mistake...After she got home I decided to pull the hood and check it out...It turns out the dealer [King Toyota] did absoultely nothing...They did not change the oil or anything...All complaints fell on deaf ears.....Even Toyota corporate headquarters basically said drop dead you are on your own as they did not return any e-mails or phone calls.

This is the definition of a wall job. Your car is at the same place parked against the wall as it was when you dropped it off! A modified wall job is the one where your car is moved from one wall to another wall :-)

Nothing is FREE. You paid for it when you bought the car. It's all in the final price.

And dealer service is an oxymoron.

When I take car to a dealer and it doesn't come back worse than it went in, I feel like I had a small victory.

This sounds exactly like when I had to contact toyota about my 2008 lemon. It was the worst dealer service I could imagine and dealing with corporate toyota was even worse. Toyota can fall into the pacific for all I care and I would just snicker.

My dealer, Fletcher Jones in Newport Beach, was very good. When I had my car in for Free Scheduled Maintenance in 2001-2004, they did all the required maintenance included oil(M1)+filter, brake fluid, coolant fluid, alignment, tires rotation ... They washed the car too, and they provided 1 day free C-class rental. The car was better after it went in for services.

My sister had the modified wall job with her 07 Camry....After she traded it in for a Mercury it was like burden lifted off her shoulders knowing she did not have to deal with the yota dealers anymore.

All mine was free under the balance of the warranty. (I didn't buy from a BMW dealer, but got the remainder of the original warranty, plus the usual used car warranty.)

I do with my BMW. They have a timeframe for everything, including brake pads!

I havent taken it yet - far from close to time...

But my experiences with dealers service have all been quite good. Im not worried, though I will ask them to NOT wash my car...
