Seems that nearly everyone is offering some volume of free online backup. I see that Dell is even getting into this business.

Who are you using, or have used, and your experiences?

I'm currently using the free version of Mozy here at home, and just used it to restore after replacing the hard drive on my laptop.

I'd like to find some free storage space for the non-profit that I volunteer for, but Mozy's free account stipulates that it is for "personal, non commercial use" only.

I thought about using something like this, but as of now i still use a secondary hdd. Im still a little nervous about having my stuff out there where i dont have control over it.

My data isn't that interesting (unless someone would be interested in my term papers), neither would the data of the non-profit, either.

Since companies give lip service to securing CC and personal info, just think of the shoddy security they will implement on a service they provide for free. JMO

I tried Carbonite (not free) and while it may be ok for very small amounts of data (say
It would **seem** that Carbonite restricts the upload speed for the backup. Restores are equally as painful and so I use a local external hard drive and let Carbonite run in the background.

If this was a free service I may recommend it, but since it is a pay for service it is not very good (just my experience). When my subscription expires, I will drop it and look for something else.

+1: Works perfectly on Windows, Mac and Linux. The LAN Sync feature helps keep all of the computers in the house synced up without using any internet bandwidth, too. 2GB free; up to 8GB if I recall correctly from referrals.
