Francis Scott Key Bridge (Baltimore) hit by Cargo Ship and Collapsed

If you watch alot of water activity you'll notice the tug boats job, is to push a ship or barge to the dock. Ships can travel easier up or down a river under their own power. Tugs jockey them to align them to the pier, then push them in harmony to the dock. Bow thrusters if a ship has them, are only used under ideal conditions. Heavy currents or wind make them pretty much useless.,,,

So we let 3rd works flagged ships deliver communist made copied goods that put American workers out of jobs then when they make a mess and even kill some innocent workers we pay the clean up? You know if the fed pays we truly will never collect a penny.
We let third world criminals murder American citizens every day. Why should this be any different?

It could take many years to be paid for a major bill for something like a bridge replacement. That's why the government will build the bridge to reopen the highway. Then, start the long dragged out fight to collect money from the ships owners.
We regularly seize the bank accounts of our enemies. Should be easy enough to seize from the ship owners and their insurers - including plenty for the families of those we lost - not that this will bring them back but my guess is most were fixing potholes in the middle of the night to support a family.

They'll probably take out a loan and tax deduct it like BP did in their Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Some of the speculation now is that the generators may have failed because of fuel issues.

That crossed my mind yesterday - most countries require some level of low sulphur fuel nearshore - but then switch to cheap/nasty MGO to save a bunch of money … hope they did not do this early …

I'd like to know how much insurance coverage the owners of the ship have. Our bureaucrats in Washington have already committed to tossing billions of taxpayer dollars at rebuilding the bridge. How about making the responsible party pay up, and do so immediately ?
My thoughts exactly. Find out about the insurance first, then toss taxpayer money at it, if needed.

What bothers me is wether it lost power or not, why is it so far away from where it should pass under. I don't see any major corrections when it does have power
Once a large vessel like this Neopanamax with a displacement of almost 150,000 tons is moving the momentum it carries will make it sluggish and slow to respond to steering input even with propulsion. Without propulsion there is no control. It seems to me, tugboat escorts should be required unless a vessel is in open water.

They destroyed a critical piece of infrastructure risking the prosperity of our good citizens. Call it what you want. Seizing there assets before they embezil them and claim bankruptcy is fine with me. There is no doubt of the loss or who caused it.
