That crossed my mind yesterday - most countries require some level of low sulphur fuel nearshore - but then switch to cheap/nasty MGO to save a bunch of money … hope they did not do this early …Some of the speculation now is that the generators may have failed because of fuel issues.

My thoughts exactly. Find out about the insurance first, then toss taxpayer money at it, if needed.I'd like to know how much insurance coverage the owners of the ship have. They destroyed a critical piece of infrastructure risking the prosperity of our good citizens. Call it what you want.
