This video shows the leaf spring is snapped into the filter element. Seems to seal well to me.
He said it's the newer version. The older version has holes instead of louversIsn't that a recently reported issue with the Fram filters? Worth noting the video was posted December '23 - not sure if he provided date code or not, but filter could be even older than that.

No. I’ve posted some very nice ones in the past. But it seems to have gotten worse since covid. Cost cutting by First Brands. In fact before First Brands purchased Fram there was a fiber gasket on the end cap indicating Fram knew it was a possible leak point.So they aren't all like that then.
