This video shows the leaf spring is snapped into the filter element. Seems to seal well to me.

Isn't that a recently reported issue with the Fram filters? Worth noting the video was posted December '23 - not sure if he provided date code or not, but filter could be even older than that.
Doesn’t matter if it snaps in well if the sealing surface isn’t smooth or flat.

He said it's the newer version. The older version has holes instead of louvers
Yeah, got it.. but just saying, a lot can change in a year and a half quality wise.

No. I’ve posted some very nice ones in the past. But it seems to have gotten worse since covid. Cost cutting by First Brands. In fact before First Brands purchased Fram there was a fiber gasket on the end cap indicating Fram knew it was a possible leak point.
He's so slow I got diarrhea too.
Filtration, filtration, filtration.
The leaf spring "snaps" in because there are 4 nubs on the ID of the end cap hole (can see them in the video) and that's what makes it seem to "snap" into the end cap. There is no "sealing" going on because it "snaps" it to the end cap due to the gap created there by the nubs. The actual sealing interface is the flat ring on the leaf spring (that can be ruffled if not stamped well) and the thin raised circumference ring around the end cap hole. If the leaf spring is ruffled and not flat, that's where the leaf spring leak path is, as pointed out in dozens of threads.
I tried watching a couple of his videos but his voice just really annoyed me.
