Okay. Or as you would speculate, paid their bill.With their current "dilemma" we can reasonably assume the worst when stuff like this happens so "unlikely" becomes much more likely. It looks like either the issue was brought to their attention, Site update gone wrong or it fixed itself?

The Fram website is still up. Did someone buy out the brand?
Yes - they bought the brand name - which likely includes the rights to the website.

Even if they are successful in selling the brands it will take some time to get back up and producing. Its not going to recover overnight. Lots of private labels they were producing have jumped ship to another producer.
It would not be like that. Fram label only on their products

All they have to do is make new Fram labels for their PG filter cans. Easy to do for them. They put labels on for parts stores etc. Almost everyone seems happy with that. 25 million seems like not much money for the brand.
Can they scale? With heathy businesses "right sized" I have doubts.
I was hoping to see trad Frams made better-er!
I read at marketwatch the 25M PGI deal included "other assts" Could this include some/most manufacturing facilities? Big automotive OEMS orders and accounts have been keeping certain facilities open.

Could be - but absolutely good businesses are set up to scale. We did this at Precor in the 1990s. Is PGI maxed out? I doubt it. If not then one market or style or size at a time.
PGI should bring back the OG Ultra 2-ply wire backed full synthetic media since they would own the engineering design specs, but use big holes in the center tube instead of louvers and a coil spring instead of a leaf spring, or bring back the smooth leaf spring with the fiber gasket on the end cap. Whatever they do, it will be based on cost to do something, and the resulting profit margins.
I know they acquired all the intellectual property rights - but was anything about any of those filters patented? Seems like anyone could essentially make a dual media mesh backed filter if they wanted?
I would assume assets would mean all the tooling, where it goes and what country, who knows.

No, PGI Northstar - which is somehow owned partially or fully by Premium Guard, bought the name and all IP only. They did not acquire any physical equipment or plant space.
Sure, anyone could make a basic "dual layer wire backed" configuration as I doubt that basic aspect is patented. My comment was more focused on the exact media design that the OG Ultra with the wire backed dual-layer pink synthetic media used to obtain the high performance of efficiency and holding capacity. That aspect of the media could be a patented part of Fram's intellectually property.
Doesn’t matter to me either way. Keep the names and colors and everything just cram jam better internals
And the oil filers will have PGI GUTS with Fram label I will bet a buck….
