scored three of these on close out at walmart for $2 each. they are 3/4”-16 and have a like 22psi bypass setting. anyways, this one had a nasty dent in the dome so i decided to cut it.
yea the spring for the bypass had some teeth to it and the bypass looked beefier itself. i think these were for some audi application when i looked themThe bypass spring wire diameter looks thicker than the FS/XG3600, the poppet valve looks a little different too other than color. Thanks for cutting a sample open, truly a gem hidden in plain sight if you can find them. I still see plenty of these Titanium versions at AAP/Carquest since no one buys them, but I prefer to get the FS3600.
I bet ya Zeeosix find these completely boring cause they'll never get wavy and tough as a rock. Another centerfold of the week.
Nice pictures and great cut and post sir. Thank You
What's the advertised bypass setting?Measured an opening force of 6 pounds! the highest so far recorded in the chart, which estimates around 30 PSI.

Where’s the wire backing?
it was there, evident by the pink mediaWhere’s the wire backing?
If you clog a filter that big using it as a trans filter, your trans is cooked anyways. A healthy trans doesn’t make much in the way of particulates/debris. That filter would likely need changing due to being rusty before it would get restricted enough to be bypassing…. That’s my opinion anyways.i still have two of these filters, i got them super cheap. wish i could use them on transmission filter but the bypass is too high.

still not worth risking when a transmission wasn’t designed with an external filter. especially when i have OG wire backed FS8a’s still.^^^Also, I'd think the flow rate from an automatic transmission isn't anything close to the flow of an engine at near redline.
What are you putting a trans filter on? I had a remote ATF filter on my old 2007 Tacoma. I was using a Napa 1269 on it. I planned to use an XG8A on it at the next change but ended up trading it in on a Duramax before I used the XG8A. I still have the XG on the shelf, I might buy another 3/4-16 base and put it on the 2010 Tacoma we have. I pulled the filter base off my old Tacoma but I have since repurposed it as a fuel filter base on a piece of equipment.still not worth risking when a transmission wasn’t designed with an external filter. especially when i have OG wire backed FS8a’s still.
i have remote transmission filters on all three of our vehicles. two 7th gen accords and my 2500hd/4l80. all three are rocking a FL1a sized filter. the two accords have carquest premiums on it (premium guard XL’s) and my silverado rocks OG wire backed FS8a’s.What are you putting a trans filter on?
