This was through 2 OCIs on my Navigator. ADBV was still pliable. Bypass still operable with good spring pressure. No drama in the media.

Waiting on UOA. No way of knowing otherwise if it was still filtering or just bypassing a lot. Time will tell. I didn't notice anything in the can except for metal shavings from the saw I used. Drain plug had precious little on its magnet.

Looks great, the more I see these cut open the more I am believing that the 15k rating is conservative.

Looking forward to the UOA

I've already decided I'm going to take the Ultra Guard installed on my Civic out to three intervals, or ~ 21k miles. Your post definitely builds my confidence.

Looks nice! I've been using those XG2's on my Hemi Ram, changing at the dic reminder which ends up usually being around 8k. I'm sure the filter is good for twice that. Good filters!

Thanks for cut & post.

It is absolutely Fram Ultra is capable of more than 15k miles in a good/clean engine, as long as not much fuel dilution.

That's just the thing - you don't know if you're in bypass mode. Without paying for a particle count, will a UOA tell you if you were in bypass mode?

For me, I'd rather buy 3 Fram Ultras for the price of one UOA.

But I will be interested in knowing your results.

Great Oil Filter,

I work at a part store and many of the guys say they use K&N and I said FRAM ULTRA is the best IMO... They laughed.

The one guy used a cartridge filter.

So we went tot he Oil filter area and he opened the K&N That fit in his car and remember its cartrige so he could see inside.

Then I opend the FRAM ULTRA and told him to feel and see the differnce.

Also he uses ROYAL PURPLE OIL...

And told me he would go through 2 K&N Oil filters durring the OCI

So he gets the FRAM ULTRA as says WOW.. OMG, remember the FRAM ULTRAS are sealed in box so he never looked at them.

Also I told him to look at the box how it can run 15K miles...

Also 1 of the guys at work uses that Mobil 1 extended OCI oil...

he goes like 9K miles on it... He is useing the FRAM ULTRA now.

I think the fram ultra has the best filter element..

However they could make it better with a COIL Sping on the bottom and a TOP by pass valve.

If the FRAM Ultra did that it would be THE ULTIMATE OIL FILTER.

However its probably the best oil filter on the market right not IMO

i plan on doing a uoa also on the few i have in service at the 10000-15000 mile mark also...I am curious also if it spens a lot of time in bypass.. It does look like a nice filter.

I have one of these next I received for "free" from AAP for my dads Ford. Not a huge fan of the FL-820s equivalents for this truck.

It doesn't, and if you're only running it 10K then there's no chance at all unless your engine is pure black sludge inside.

I hope you are correct because i like the way they are made and so far i like the way they perform but i will talk to the lab when i send in my oil sample. I became friendly with someone at the lab and saved this person a lot of cash on an engine problem this person had. We are both curious what the samples show. I have 2 other uoa's on wix filters but only around 8000 miles.. We will see

I'm going to get the particle count. I want to know exactly what went on here. If there hasn't been any thing significant left behind, then I'm going to use Ultra for 2 OCIS from here on out. If things look really good I might even push it a bit further.

I can see a lot using my inspection camera through the oil fill hole. The guides, chain, and phaser had a little crust, but saw a lot of clean metal. Filter mount was clean as a whistle. Oil was dark, but still transparent. Hardly a black tar mess.

The important Secondary issue is the media was strong. I could not physically harm it nor dismount it from the end caps with my hands.

The way I see it is if Donaldson can build a 25k mile filter for Amsoil, maybe Fram has one too, but simply doesn't label it as such.

I just shifted over to Pennzoil HM, as I got a bunch of it at a fantastic price, so we'll see how she keeps trucking.

Yeah this is pretty awesome. My Ultra has almost 10k miles on it now. Makes me wonder if it could go 20k ? The first owner did take really good care of it and so have I. So it may be possible??

I got a TG waiting in the wings. But it is the 7317. One on currently is the very small 6607. I know there really maybe no difference but I just want to upsize a bit. As long as the specs are the same pressure wise it is all good. Which they are.
Good work here man. Looking forward to your UOA.

I like the Frams more and more, too. I have a TG7317 on our MDX right now. I like to change the filter each time, just because of the relatively small sump size, and the amount of oil that's left in the engine above the oil filter. So I can't quite bring myself to spend the money for the Ultra.

Even the TG is rated for 10,000 miles, so I know that I'm already throwing money away changing it each time.

With Motorking's approval, I will be running my XG7317 for 2 OC's on my Accord. It will be around 20k miles usage. The M1 filter was just fine after 18k miles so I don't have any worries about the Fram.

At $5 a filter after rebate it's a no-brainier.

This filter is converting many people back to Fram. There are still haters though.

I believe Honda's 0w20 with filter every other oil change is overkill, especially since I'll be running Ultra's. But I will be following it... that will be around 15-18k on the filter I believe.
