So I stocked up on some Ultras for the Pentastar in my work van. Bought 2 at Walmart and just got another with an order from RockAuto with some parts.

The 2 at Walmart were labeled made in Brazil and the RA one said henco Mexico.

All 3 were sealed and never opened as far as I can tell.

WM #1 box: Brazil, filter: USA with fuzzy outside, wire mesh backing.

WM #2 box: Brazil, filter: Brazil with fuzzy outside and no wire mesh backing.

RA #1 box: Mexico, filter: Mexico with cellulose/paper looking element, no wire mesh backing.

FWIW, I bought my first Fram filter due to BITOG and have cut open a few cans on the Ultras and have been pleased with construction and overall quality. Orange can of death has always been my view of Fram. Always ran OEM or WIX.

I have been in the practice or running oil for 5-5.5k miles and changing the filter every other OCI. M1 5w-40 Euro has been the flavor for the wife's Yota and my work vehicles, pentastar, and old SBC.

Date codes
Mexico: 25012
USA: 23255EE

Oh man, that Brazil date code, written right on the corner so you can't read it :sneaky:
I'll take my best shot though

However, you should consider the Endurance FE11665, which is wire-backed

Have FB basically cheapened the Ultra line and moved what was the Ultra to the Endurance now? If I get the wire backing and US made, I may hoard a case of them. It seems nothing stays the same anymore. Find a good thing and it gets changed.

Yes, stock up on the Brazilian version. More cheapening that we've all seen. These filters need good support.

Here's where they're using a China COO wire backed recently on the shelves posted by @Sayjac
