Filter is from member nthach. Believe off his Toyota Prius. Forgot what oils were used. Lots of thick asphalt like scum in bottom of can. I tried my darndest but didn’t see much of anything in pleats. Old style wire backed filter. I went thru like 5 gloves hacking media apart and laying out for photos.

Yes he did. Believe he ran oci of Super Tech, other oils and some HPL oil also. I’ll let him fill us in when he gets time

The oil used was:
1 quart of Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30(it was in a Valvoline MaxLife Full Synthetic jug, but now I remember I changed oil on my old co-worker’s car)
1 quart of STFS 5w30
1 quart of HPL Engine Cleaner
.5 quart of Castrol Edge Bio-Synthetic 5w30
remainder Formula Shell 10w30 to make a gallon.

In any case, topic OG Ultra rated for 20k mi and proven here to be good for that and more. Great filters, especially so for the price. Too bad they are history now. Topic looks like typical OG Ultra result.

Very good point Sayjac. Makes me glad I got a Fram Titanium with Fram Synthetic oil while back. They are wire backed filters (see the 12060 I cut and posted)

I’d say yes. I drained some thick gunk/oil out of filter before I spread media apart. I was hoping to see “stuff” in pleats but…

Definitely sounds like it liquified some deposits, which is the purpose.

How many miles was this filter run for? Lots of debris in the filter, either dirty engine or run for a long time.
