Good Afternoon Board,

I've attached photos of the filter coming off my 2005 Chrysler Town & Country with 102,000 miles.

Pretty uneventful, everything looked good to me; the Anti-Drain back valve very pliable, the filtering media spaced well and straight, the bypass valve in working condition, the end caps in excellent condition - no complaints from me!

Thank you.

Fram TG went back in, and I changed to Pennzoil High Mileage Platinum from the Pennzoil Platinum. Not certain if the High Mileage is any better, but I have 102,000 on the vehicle so if it’s a little better I’ll take it.

Turned out well for the 3k. Part number is a bit different than usual Fram style (TG16).
I’ve kept a short OCI on the Town & Country, every 3,000 miles or 6 months, which is the recommended interval in the manual. I know oil has improved since 2005, probably could go longer, but at 68 years old, I remember what my dad told me, oil and filter are cheap, engines aren’t.

Thank you.

Very good sir. I Thank You

I've bought 3 or 4 Fram Ultra over the years and my favorite part is the non-slip cap.

What tool did you use to cut it open? I haven't added filter surgery to my tasks but I may one of these days.
Every time I check my Tundra, there is nothing visible there even when it was new but that's a cartridge i.e. no surgery required. 🪚🪓🔪🗡️

Yes they have. But there louvers are different - there more squared off than other brands - or at least they were when they started. Look much better than most.

Still prefer holes or even e-core myself. Not a fan of louvers either.
Doesn’t matter to me as long as they’re open lol the louvers that Fram uses are great. And the new center tube is stronger even

Pleat spacing and uniformity looks better than some TG posted here recently. As one would expect at 3k miles, looks fine.

Thanks for c&p.

I used to feed the same way about the louvers. It's hard to examine them thru the outlet hole of the filter. The lack of back light can make them look more closed off than they actually are. Ever since I started cutting them open I don't have an issue with them anymore.... at least with the motorcraft and fram ultras anyway. Once you get the filter media off the core, you can see the louvers are wide open on both sides.

A very strong LED flashlight is a must. I've seen some very obvious choked down louvers. They look like mere slits in the center tube.
