I know that the consensus on here is that Fram filters are cheaply made and overprice. I have a 2005 Ram 1500 5.7 with about 200,000 km on it. I have used numerous filter on the truck, predominantly Wix filters and usually 5w20 or 5w30 conventional. I usually stick to SOPUS products but have tried Valvoline conventional and Castrol as well. I have also used Pennzoil Platinum. I have always been able to hear the slight hemi tick. Last week I did an oil change with Quaker State 5w20 conventional and a Fram Tough Guard filter and the tick is completely gone. Anyone else had experience with this?

This isn't quite the same, but when I had my 08 Wrangler, it had issues with a dry start, the ADBV was not working properly. I had these issues with an Amsoil filter, a Pureone filter, and a factory filter. I ran Fram Tough Guards or Motorcraft filters on it for the rest of the time I owned it and never had a problem. Searching the different Jeep forums, this seemed to be a common problem on the 3.8's in the Jeeps and seemed to be the worst with Mobil 1 filters, and Fram's and Motorcrafts seemed to give the least amount of trouble.
The Fram TG is actually an excellent filter. Just because it says "Fram" on the box, people might think its the same POS that the basic Fram filter is. But that's like saying a platypus is the same as a duck because of the bill. It just aint so. The Tough Guard is made COMPLETELY differently- metal end cap, different filter media, different anti-drainback valve... different EVERYTHING.
I just ran a Tough Guard to 7700 miles and it worked just fine.
