Fram Titanium now wire backed again (NOV 24’)

After your recommendation I made the swap as well so thanks for that.

Ah Buffalo Niagara. Love the premium outlets, Tops, and Trader Joes! But good idea, maybe I’ll check out oil filters next time too. Last time coming back to the GTA, I stopped at the duty free. They had Johnny Walker 18 for around $70, I didn’t grab it, still kick myself for that. Maybe next time.
I’m staying in NOTL for a couple of weeks and have a day off so my girlfriend and I are heading across the Queenston/Lewiston bridge this morning and into Niagara Falls NY. Gotta grab some more plastic straws over there 🤪 Might grab another jug of VRP 0w20 as well, even though my next oil change is 3-4 months away at least. But if I wait until the last minute you never know if they’ll have it in stock once it gets closer to the spring. The Walmart on Military Road doesn’t seem to have VRP in stock for very long, at least not in the warm weather where everyone is doing their own oil changes.

Nice! Enjoy it.

I’m curious if the titanium have the rubber sealing gasket for the bypass valve like the OG ultras…may have to buy one and see

Unfortunately not anymore. Here is an OG Titanium I tested that didn’t leak even without the seal. The stamping quality is key without the seal but as we know quality control is declining. If your willing to spend the money, OG Titaniums are sometimes still at some AAP’s.

is that one with the pink media?

Intrigued by the topic title decided to check out local AAP for the FS7317 application. They had two in stock, made 136 and 160 day of 2023, ~$16 regular price. They both did have wire backing with centertube holes. When I last checked AAP in black Friday 2022, the two newest with 22 manufacture dates, had gone to non-wire, likely current XG media. So I was a bit surprised, like to see more of newer (24) FS 7317 filters. As most of my ocis now 1 year ~5k mile oci range most likely wouldn't be interested even with rare 20% code. As for the idea posited that FB may go back to OG media for the Ultra XG, 'I' would be shocked if that happened.

I was tracking the change over on the fs7317 for around 3 years. But due to this thread and the $16 price tag I gave up….all kinds of combinations for all years. I had thought I had it narrowed down to first half of 2023 for a good while.

Maybe AAP requested that the Titanium go back to wire backed media. Might also be why the price is so high now, as Fram would have to make special production for AAP. Time will tell if the wire backed media remains on the Titanium. Too bad it didn't retain the leaf spring sealing gasket in the end cap.
