Dunno if I’d say similar, as it’s not wire backed. Did note that I can tear media apart very easily also.

So false advertising or using old packaging just new production in old packaging. I won’t buy one if this is case

A confirmation of my AAP Titanium 7317 observation posted here end of November last year. The change from OG Ultra wire backed media to the new Ultra with thin synthetic layer backed by blended media was underway. Can't remember if I saw louvers then or not (don't think I did), but clearly used here, now.

This is the "updated" filter (same as current Ultra) with the blend media, no wire backing and the synthetic "topper". Many blend and cellulose medias are easy to tear.

It's because the Titanium is going through the same wire-backed to non wire-backed change that the Ultra went through. Figured it would happen at some point.

It's not wire backed ... look at post #5 that show the back side of the media. Just looking through the louvers don't the center tube with a good LED flashlight is enough to tell if the media is wire-backed or not.

Yeah I know they are not wire backed. I’m just not sure what I’m looking at. It’s a strange looking pleat. It doesn’t go all the way to the edge and it looks too thin to be a regular pleat. It kind of looks like the outer layer of the pleat has separated from the crimp and is just “hanging” there.
