FRAM PRO 9688, 6,000 miles CUT OPEN

Good Sunday Afternoon BITOGERS. Filter was last one friend used on his 12' Hyundai Elantra 4dr hatchback. 120,xxx miles on car. Oil was QSGB 5w30. I put in some .75 cent QSAD 5w20 for winter and a $1.00 tough guard filter thanks to Wal Mart Yes I know; filter looks ugly. So what, it didn't tear Enjoy the pictures

Based on what's in that filter, that's one filthy engine So basically the "Pro" is an OCOD in a white can? Does the price reflect that?

Really do not like that pleat spacing

Definitely excessive pleat spacing in that one spot. You can see there was stress on those pleats because the end caps are deformed a bit in at area. But does show how strong the media is - if it was brittle media it most likely would have torn.

He got 6of these off EBAY. Didn't ask what they cost. Actually thru fill hole it's pretty decent looking. I told him he could have my 5 quart jug of M1 HM 5w20 also. We may use that next OCI.

Yeah, I'd say it held up OK

Holy wide pleats Batman! This shows that wide pleats cause stress, but since it is a fiber end cap instead of metal, the end cap deforms instead of media tearing. Maybe Fram really does know something about making filters. and yes, that is a lot of stuff in the top of the can.

Yeah, I was tad shocked seeing that "filth" in can. Runs great though as never had check engine light or any mechanical problems with car

Yes, and the "Fram Pro Synthetic" (FPS prefix/code) is an Ultra. The prices generally reflect that, though they are not in general retail distribution networks. Jay Buckley from Fram explained this a while back.
