This filter was on my Yamaha Grizzly 350 for the past 4.5 years. Story from when I got it is here:
This was the first change since the one shown in that thread that was full of metal. Happy to report there was very very little glitter in the filter this change. Not bad for a blown up 4 wheeler with a cheap top end kit and a rod bearing I machined with a dremel tool.. No consumption or top off's required over the 100hrs either. Filter held up really well considering it was in service so long IMO. Was replaced with more 15w-40 Delvac and a Champ PH2876XL.
Just picked up a non-running Grizzly 350 to tinker with. Was told it 'Ran 4 months ago but won't crank now'. Short story is it wouldn't fire even on starting fluid and it has 30psi compression.. Clearly has a bigger problem than sitting.. I'm pretty good at stuff like carburetors and other external type engine work. I've done a few valve adjustments, but rarely dive into the internals. With compression that low would you assume a broken ring or some sort of a head issue? What should I check next or is it just time for a tear down?
