The picture looks like garbage thats what it is. There are plenty of them on this forum and others.

So quick to join the bash

The damage to the filter looks to me like the person who did it did it while cutting it apart.
That FRAM looks fine otherwise.
I get so tired of the FRAM bashing here .

It is like peer pressure to be cool bash the FRAM

Makes me ill

No offense intended, but is someone forcing you to be here?

I guess my question is the fact from the OP is that filter is junk. The proof is in the pudding and there is plenty of proof on this forum.

I swear not long ago somebody from fram showed up here. NOW is when i want to know what they have to say. It's really sad after all these years they still put product out like this when they know there are much better filters for the same or less expensive.

This is a big plus to BITOG, you will learn what is marketing and what is a truely good value from every lubricating product out there. If you planly cannot see this your wasting your time here.

The lubrication industry is moving forward at a very high rate right now. I would expect supporting companies as fram, Purolator, Bosch, and other to keep up. Fram fell back in the 80's and they seem to not care to improve their image what so ever. This is not marketing or what they say...THIS IS REAL WORLD RESULTS

Oh no no nono. FRAM has NEVER been BEYOND the 70s/80s. They've been making filters the exact same way for almost half a century.

You either have pretty warped eyes or sense of something. You can see it is defective in the first picture. You can see the missing piece before cutting it apart. It was cut apart at the suggestion, or question raised here. Then the pleats that did not want to separate were separated.

There is no way that little piece could have been cut out before tearing it apart. (well maybe there are laser knives somewhere, but that is beyond my reach, skill, or objective)

Also, although you can't touch and feel it like I could. The solidified retention valve is not "fine", nor the rattle it made in the filter.

You don't have to believe it. It is a free country and forum. You can also believe the astronauts didn't land on the moon and there are aliens in underground labs in the southwest USA.

I had a great experience with the first use of Fram...I was going to change the oil and filter on my 5000k new VW Golf and I always changed the filters and oil on my cars but this time they didn't have the Purolator filter I usually used for my old Rabbit, but it too was an exact fit for my new Golf.

So I reluctantly grab the Fram and put it on, start the car up and ...you guessed it a oil pressure buzzer and light....it turns out that the filter had a defective ADBV and it set off the warning buzzer.

It is simply too much of a conincidence that that first Fram filter I ever used was junk.

Fram bashing because: Ye with little auto knowledge can bash Fram after reading about 15 posts. Then the sheeple say
"Fram is bad" Makes 'em believe they actually know something about what is under their hood
bunch of mo's if you ask me

What the [censored] is "MO's" and "YE"?? LMAO
lol.gif
,,, is that the new jive talk with you young clueless kids today???

I'd be concerned about the holes in the media that have shown up on some photos and youtube. But it seems as if the fiber end caps hold up pretty well. I've yet to see a photo where thye've separated. I'm actually shocked.

Most here have enough "auto knowledge" to know a hole in filter media is bad for your engine!
I really don't know how anyone can make excuses for this [censored]!

There is peer pressure to defend Fram? What are you smokin'?

I am sure people just get tired of the same thread with a different title. No thread bashing Fram is ever different than the one before it. Everything that is said has been repeated a million times before.

What about the other post with the pic of the Fram with 20k miles on it. It held up quite well. Again, I am not defending or bashing Fram but the only way to know if a filter is good or not is to collect data on filtering capability, flow and real use, not just speculation and prejudice.

It must not be the same as what you are smokin'. As for the "peer pressure" thing it definitely works both ways.

As far as the "fram bashing" threads never being different, how about the fram defense in those threads? You don't think that's getting a little tired?
To quote from this thread "Could you please explain how MILLIONS of cars over the years have run fram filters, and our roads are not littered with dead cars b/c the Fram filter failed?" blah blah blah.....

But hey all you guy's who like fram if it works for you that's great, you can have my share. I don't use them mostly because they are WAY overpriced for what they are.

I used Fram filters for a long time, never had a problem. Having said that, after joining this site I learned that Fram filters weren't as good as I thought, and stopped using them. While I won't go out and bash them, I won't buy, or defend them either.

The thing is,is why would you want to take the chance???, we all know what they look like inside that their terribly constructed and weak compared to others so like i said why take the chance, your engine deserves better no??

But are they that bad?? The pic in the other post clearly show that the Fram filter held up quite well for such a long drain. I am sure that for normal drains that any filter will do a good job.
