Hey all-
After reading all day about oil/filters, hate to admit but the filter my pops always told me was best....is the worst.
Moving forward:
Jeep 1999 Grand Cherokee WJ 4.7l V8 140K.
DD with mixed offroad driving and cold weather (-10f)
Needing advice on a mid grade filter and oil, IE not M1/K&N combo
Im looking for a flame free recommendation on:
1:should i use a full synthetic/conventional or synthetic blend, currently using castrol syn blend?
2: is it alright to pair a 6K oci with a quality filter w/o worrying about the engine?
3: Ive been reading that purolator/pennzoil/bosch are all very similar filters is this true?
4: a XL Purolator (#30001) is suggested for my jeep per " www.wjjeeps.com/service/maintenance_wj.htm " should i stick with mopar or the XL purolator?
5: Im looking at staying with castrol, i know nothing about valvoline/pennzoil/quakerstate. Are they all about the same for my needs?
6: Brought the truck with 125k have no idea of the service history but have changed all fluids, is it worth using any type of "snake oil"/additive or, run it as is until it dies?
