Fram FE7317 Endurance - new batch April 2025

I picked 2 of these same date as other two failed FE3600 n my other thread

But quality feels and looks different

Dated April 2025

Seems new design of the relief valve plate and has plastic core, no metal core with louvers anymore

I am struggling to decide to keep or return based sour taste after FE3600.

X-ray needed to conduct the flashlight test :)

On their way out... if you feel like "one last run" is worth it to you. w/o doing a flashlight test or x-ray like you mentioned probably easy to say it'll have light. Overall, the rest of it looks good & I like the ecore swap.

Regarding Fram - I've completely lost trust in the company. They have lost their way. Their quality assurance is terrible. The constant cheapening of the filter materials and construction. The lack of regard for quality workmanship and the end user.

I wouldn't want to risk engine damage by using any filter made by First Brands / Fram.

FE Ecore been discussed before in the 7317 application, linked. There, initially Champ Labs baseplate was focus but eventually OP gets to saying it's an Ecore. Won't repeat my comments except to say in my observation, Champ Labs bypass piece seal area design same whether louvered tube or ecore.

I like the comment that base plate, ecore, bypass, looks exactly like SuperTech one!

Is the endurance with encore just rebranded MP7317??? :unsure:

I did not have MP, but ST is very close looking of course shorter and natural rubber gasket - but construction very close

Considering the fact that the PG made filters are cheaper, more readily available and filter just as good if not better than a non leaking Endurance I just can’t see why anyone would want to go back to Fram again 🤔
I posted earlier, for the application (Nissan's V6 3.7) Fram XX7317 just a bigger filter designed for Nissan's V8 which fits V6

Everything is puny including PG for such a missive powerful engine.

The MP7317 wasn't full synthetic media with wire backing. It might be constructed the same, but the media is Endurance specific.

Same general design as the K&N filters like the new 1010... not that great inside and the 1010 has no wire

Is there an engineering reason why the plastic/ecore is not superior to a metal core with holes/louvers? It would seem to me that in addition to likely being cheaper to produce and equally structurally sound, it eliminates the potential for closed louvers.

Don't see why it would be "superior." As discussed very often here, it won't flow better than a metal core with holes or properly formed louvers. Equivalent, yes. As noted, the current Champ Labs seal area is the issue whether ecore or hole/louvered metal.
