I finally got a filter cutter after cleaning out my garage and finding two used filters that I had stashed away for some reason.

This Fram was run for 2,639 miles from October 9, 2023 to March 3, 2024 when my Camry was at the height of her oil burning. She had HPL EC run through her during the OCI and then I ran a can of BG EPR through her before taking the filter off, according to my records. So, it is definitely not the current stock and aside from some excess glue I think looks pretty good.

Filter media looks like it's starting to collapse. That much crap after not even 3k? BG did some work. Might try R+P for a while. BG definitely cleans, but I don't like the way it thins down the oil.

Nice work and photos. What the Puro tech filters for I spy?

Thank You

53 Stude has probably cut more filters open than anybody around here. I'll take his word for it.
Or you can see for yourself. Cross-references to M1-102.

Pleat count is higher for more filter area, and the sectional density is higher for more strength. Filter media isn't hourglassed. Wire backed or not isn't the issue.

Thanks for the c&p. Not a bad looking FE. Leaf spring appears ok. Media is fine due to wire backing.

That Mobil 1 filter above is concerning as it’s shedding glue just like the M+H made Motorcrafts. Multiple examples of the glue making it’s way through the bypass and eventually out of the oil pan have been posted. Luckily Mobil dropped M+H for a better manufacturer.

Oil looks pretty dark so we can speculate there was cleaning happening. The filter looks quite dark too but isn't dried. Thanks for posting.

That purolator made M1 looks really good but the FE topic filter is a good one too. Not gonna collapse. The very soft synthetic media is wire backed to prevent it. Maybe if it was an ultra without a mesh backing it would be concerning but not here in the case of the FE

They are TL20195 that I was using on my Camry when I switched her to 3k miles OCIs and was dumping chemicals into her trying to fix the oil burning. They are oversized for the 2AZ-FE but fit snug and give a bit more filter storage and oil capacity than the 4386 size filters. Since they were $2.45 on Amazon I grabbed them 4 at a time.

Jist because you say something stupid and not factual doesn’t make it real. Obviously, folks here know that I know if a filter did the job well.

Comparison is right above if you'd like to take a look. Honestly, who would pick the FRAM again over the Mobil or similar after seeing this? Thing was probably going into bypass...hopefully.

Then why post images like this? Someone was able to determine it was doing its job. Do you refute that? There's enough to see come on.

I know what I saw and I dam sure ain’t blind. Show me how that filter media was gonna collapse. You can’t. I’ve cut tons of ultras and other filters. Making assumptions and saying “media looks to be coming apart without seeing media layer out is just insane.
