This Fram may have been on my recently aquired 5.7L Ram Daytona for at least a year of the three years of sitting after my father became parapalegic. It ran perhaps twice a month max with 5W-20 conventional.

It was replaced by Puro Classic for a 1k cleanup (also cut open in nearby posting thread)

Have a look. I'm a filter novice. Filter sat for 4 weeks prior ro cutting, pardon my damage of filter element.

Date code says it was made the 74th day of 2011. So maybe it's been on that engine more than a year ... ?

How was the spacing near the seam?

Considering it was made before Fram apparently upgraded the PH16 and the fact that it sat for some time, I think it held up very well.

Cringingly .... Possible. Hopefully no ill effects. Argh.

But... just maybe...no on too long. Dad has always had a large stock of filters up on the top cupboard bought well ahead of time. So it could have been a shelf dweller. The truck left daily life service on fall 2013 until my aquisition this early summer.

The filter did it's job.

I'm glad you are cutting your filters open. This way you can tell what is happening.

Each one you do will be easier and better.

Thanks for the cut and post.

Added-
The pleats do not appear wavy so I don't think there was that much abuse during use.

If you are concerned about that, check your oil and see how quickly it starts to get dirty. If it turns jet black in say 200 miles, you may want to do some short changes.

If I recall the spacing was a tad wider on one side but not much.

Totally unscientifically, the oil seemed fairly transparent (7 quarts WOW) on drain. No chunks. Seemed thin though. No visual water floating though just ran out more like a 0w.

The drain plug was finger tight. Weird.

The cleanup run with the Puro Classic looked super clean visually.

The 1k cleanup run I made with Mobil 5000 and a Puro Classic drained out very clear. So far so good hey. Fingers crossed.

Seems like a lot of sludge/dirt settled out of the filter element into the top of the can.

Filter held up well, so hopefully minimal dirt washed out the engine with the cleaning run, and all is back to normal!

What oil will you be running going forward?

For now the Mobil Clean 5000 5w-20.

Perhaps the nicely priced Valvoline semi syn high mileage 5w-20 in future?

I think you mean to the bottom of the can.

Filter looks good for a Fram I guess.
