Looked at the Fram 3614 while at Wally World. Saw some small holes where the valve did not cover all the way. Zoom in on picture. Also noticed the famous Fram grip was now just some cheap spray or whatever. Definitely not like what it used to be like.
Took a picture of the ST for comparison. Same filter with nitrial valve in my opinion. Did not notice the valve being as bad.

There also used to be orange paint under the black sure grip, last one I used I scratched and it was bare metal. 👎

Yeah, both Champ Labs on this model - same guts, different can. this Fram even has the eCore center tube, but has the silicone ADBV over the ST. Seems that Champ Labs has been making more Fram filter models as time goes on.

I have the ST3614 on my car right now. Nearly time to pull it and do a C&P. I also have a Champ made PH3614 awaiting installation. I just checked the ADBV on mine and the holes look well covered. Don't know if I'd use them on the regular instead of a PG filter but I do like the eCore design. Wish the QC were better though.

I don't think the ST looks any better. I'd still take the OC. I would bet those small gaps would seal once the engine is shut down. I wouldn't be concerned.
