Off a friends 2010 GMC pickup with 4.8 v-8 engine. 6,000 miles on QSGB 10w30 also. Put some QSGB 10w30 and another Extra Guard he supplied in and on. Doesn't drive a lot of highway mainly short trips.

Well, short trips don't help either but I'll agree with you on that it's not ideal 6k filter

Thanks for the C&P!

I know. Waiting to see more filters from your fleet

It looks as if the media pleats simply buckled under axial (endwise) compressive loading from the spring, not due to pressure difference. Any comment on that theory? No tears?

None of the orange Frams I cut back in the days when the media was tied together with string did anything like that!

These orange cans are quite capable of going way longer than 6,000 miles, and come out looking just fine. Proof of that here in the forums.

I reckon all the short trips did that filter in, and it's not the first time we have seen an orange can look like this one which is worrisome.

He's not getting his oil up to operating temperature-might want to make sure he has a good thermostat (not stuck open). 6K was too far for that OCI, if he's going to do super short trips in winter he may need to do 3K, or maybe even 2K. At least QSGB is cheap!

I'm a few weeks out from the Lexus and 4Runner oil changes. Lexus currently has a XG3614 4Runner has a FL910S. I will share here when I cut them. Don't expect any drama on the FL910S after 5,000-5,500 miles or on the Ultra after 10k.

Definitely the moisture and abuse of short trips IMO, I have seen it before on other orange cans that were either badly short tripped or were on an engine suffering from coolant contamination.

His use pattern warrants a more robust filter, even though this one hung in there. And 6k short tripped on a conventional? I am betting his UOA wouldn't be very pretty either.
