Found a few in my stash. Are these good filters? I know they are the top of the line filters that Fram manufactures.

Here is some info on the filter from Fram's wesbite-
--The 7,000 Mile oil filter offers superior protection for longer change intervals.
-Synthetic Blend Media
premium filtration (96% SPE) and capacity for 7,000 miles.
-Metal Screen
holds 70% more dirt than leading competitor's average.
-Silicon Anti-Drainback Valve
protects your engine by retaining oil when engine is off so your engine benefits from a full filter at start up.

Does this filter compare to the M1 and Pure One filters fairly? Seems like it's over $10 at stores.

There's pictures of a F**m Extended Guard at the above link. It is the only F**m worth using. Problem with it is, there are better choices out there for the same (or less) money.

Since you've already got them, use 'em. But I wouldn't buy more of them. Maybe you got them on sale...

I think I bought them for a couple of bucks a while back. My stash is full of M1 M-110 that fit my 3 vehicles perfectly.
I am interested to know how the Fram Extended Guard compare.

I like the Extended Graud for extended drains due to the media which I believe has similiar holding capacity to other pure synthetics like Fleetgruad Starapore or Donaldson Syntec. Yea, I know FRAM says Blend media but I'll guess very high % synth relative to others.

The issue I have is the mircon rating is claimed to be the same as their basic orange can, not like their ToughGuard. So unlike other filters (say PureONE or TG)the micron rating is so-so.

If you have higher mileage or neglected engine and want holding capacity this could be consider good alternative at WM pricing.

With shorter drains on newer vehicles, there are likely better choices.

Why is it that fram see's fit to use metal endcaps on their top line filters when we all know the paper endcaps work just dandy..

The specs given to you by Fram may sound pretty good, but Mobil 1 filters are even better. They have a change interval length more than 2X than that of the Fram Extended Guard and also filter down to smaller microns at a higher efficiency. Mobil 1 filters also have the synthetic blended media, silicon adbv, relief valve, and have a heavy-duty canister that can stand 9X the normal vehicle oil system operating pressure. Mobil 1 filters may cost a little more, but they are worth it.

I use these extend guards myself. Thiers an oil test that was done here on this website. www.oilfilterstudy.com
Extend guards seem to have VERY good micron fitlering, as well as oil flow, according to the tests, which is what got me hooked on them. BUt i try and do 3 month oil changes, and 2,500 to 3,000 miles in that time, so i re use the old filter 2 times, since its supposed to be rated for 7,000 miles.
