Fram Endurance VS Carquest EP Synthetic

I was just going to post this!! 😂

CarQuest Extended Performance for the win. Superior quality. The endurance failed the leak test as usual. Here is a shot of the medias⬇️

I saw it earlier this AM
I don't need more filters but Carquest locally are ripping on the EP. Filters.....

Two different companies. Vietnam copied the Mann filter media, but the Mann/Boss uses a different shaped polymer backing. The Fram is the old Champ synthetic media with the black steel screen.
Suddenly microscope pictures are important when the fav brand is shown, pretty funny. Otherwise oh no that nothing to see.

As normal now FE failed WCW flashlight test. Looks like CarQuest Extended Performance has gone up a $1 recently. Now $7 difference between it and CQ Premium. Unless I just wanted to try one still likely chose the Premium even with bundle, in fact did that recently. For me, only way to buy EP would be in a bundle. But yeah here, CarQuest Extended Performance FTW.

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the EP have a less efficient media? Why would someone pay more for the EP over the Carquest Premium if that’s the case? There are very few people on here who go more than 10,000 miles on their oil filters anyway and that’s what the Premium is rated for

The EP is 99.5% at 25 microns. Full synthetic media with backing. But yes, tough sell if you do 10k or less oci’s in normal conditions. I do prefer the EP in my Jeep because the filter has wide spaces between the plastic cage and the backing gives me more confidence as I’ve seen cheap filters with missing chunks of media get sucked into the engine.

The media thickness measurement WCW made showed the Fram Endurance to be thicker, but his measurement also included the pretty thick wire backing which is thicker than the nylon mesh on the Carquest.

Would have been a more apples-to-apples comparison if he removed the backing and only measured the media itself.

The things that twist your knickers sometimes.

The EP version? Wonder if he is west coat they may have more of a market there. We get the reds and the blues but that is as fancy as it gets.
Don't think he's bought the EP version, but if they have the Carquest Premium I'd think they also have the EP. He's over near Niagara Falls area.

I haven’t checked to see if they even sell the EP version here simply because I don’t see the need to spend more money for a less efficient filter. The next time I’m in a Carquest I can ask them if they carry it though

Be neat if they brought either of these to Canada. Yet to see a Carquest up here offer these.

If you like this CarQuest Extended Performance just go to Canadian Tire and check out the Castrol Synthetic filter... It's almost the same as this Carquest even though it's made by a different company.
