FRAM CH 8081 Filter 7,456 Miles

I changed the oil in my 3 series today and took some pictures of the used Fram CH8081 filter and the new OEM Mann filter. The filter and oil (M1 0w-40) had 7,456 miles of use. This is an M52 engine with about 96,000 miles on it. I am getting a UOA and will post a link.

The filter looks great, how a bout the media? My Fusion takes a cartridge filter and I have looked at the Fram cartride. Seems to be constructed as well as all the others.

Yeah the filter media looked very similar to the new filter. I was glad to see it not wavy. I had taken a lot of short trips on that oil.

The Mann filter seems to be a little shorter than Fram in picture# 2. If the prices are similar I would stay with Mann filter, I tried Fram cartridge filter in E430 and found that it did fit right as Mann or other German filters.

Looks great. I would probably go with the mann too.

Where is that Mann filter made btw?

The Fram filter did seem to fit a little different than the Mann filter. I plan to stick with Mann filters from now on. I am not sure where the Mann filter is made because I already threw out the box.
