FP and combustion chamber cleaning

I'm running my 3.0L V6 Ranger truck with it's first tank of gas that has a double dose of FP included. I'll use the normal dosage after this one.

This truck has always had a pinging problem and some of it may be due to carbon buildup. If I keep on using the FP regularly, how long would you guess it would take for the combustion chambers and pistons to get cleaned up? Or do I have to remove the plugs and do the LC cleanup routine?

I'm just trying to eliminate possibilities before I do anything major. I've already done basic stuff like clean the MAF, change spark plugs, replace the PCV, etc.

IMHO a few tanks of double+ dose, plus about 2-3 of regular dose will get the big build up.

But - if the root cause of the problem remains, it will return

Just curious what the CR is, what brand and octane rating of gas, the status of your knock sensor, and tailpipe testing are saying??

Oh comeon, it's not an exact science.

I just didn't want to have to wait too long for the thing to get better. For all I knew, it might take a year

I ran two tanks of Redline cleaner and one tank Lucas UCL and after 1 tank of regular dose of FP, my 3.0 Ranger hardly pings. I can feel it is going away, it's been decreasing rapidly every 20 miles or so using regular octane of course.
