Don't hurt me but I paid like $10.99 for a quart and around $39 for a gallon jug. I was not going to mention because I know how people are here about their oils and budget conscious in this recession. So be nice. Altogether it cost me around $52 for 5 quarts!(with uncle sams part too)

Don't get me wrong, I use coupons and try to save in everyday life. But I like to splurge on myself once in awhile. I don't buy expenseive cloths, play expensive video games, own an expensive phone, have much luxury items in my life, so I hope you oil buffs understand.

I plan a long OCI too. Seeing Amsoil was like finding the Holy Grail because I was just browsing for some home air filters and saw the stuff.

I see it this way, a dealer should earn a profit or whoever, plus I would have to pay for shipping anyway if I got it online.

I actually searched for Amsoil dealers earlier in the year in my area and found an auto store and was close to stopping by when my oil change was due. But seeing it unexpectedly at a store was perfect timing.
I'm not saying its the best oil in the world but it is some good grub for your car!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 20,000-25,000 OCI here I come!!

After I go 10,000 miles on Penzzoil Platinum Ultra (400 miles on it at the moment) I will go to my Amsoil Stash.

Always a happy day when one gets to splurge on himself.

I am an Amsoil preferred buyer and order their filters and ATF and some other stuff (Metal Protector). I know their oil is top notch, but so is Mobil 1 and Penzoil. Right now I am getting the 5 QT jugs of PP for $20 and change. 5 QTs does most of my vehicles except my Jeep where I need 6. I go under 10K for the oil changes and thus I feel that PP provides me with good protection at a reasonable price.

Sorry I am new here, nothing against Pablo but I didn't know about him when I bought the Amsoil back in July 2010. Only been here less than a month.

I am not really a hardcore oil person, just like reading forums and getting stuff that people rate highly.

Really was choosing between Penzzoil Platinum Ultra and Castrol Edge when preparing to do my oil change after the free dealer changes. But like Serendipity, I happen to bump into it by accident. So I thought I give it a try, otherwise most likely I would be happy with over the counter stuff really.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

52 pesos are a lot of coin for a jug of oil. But it is still way cheaper than spending that on some other junks or vices. M1 0W20 are Valvoline SynPower or PenP are my choices.

No problem there! You found what you wanted and purchased it. Good good. Yes, I'm a economist. Sigh.

Sorry, but being Pablo's lackey compelled me to post that 'no love' comment.

Is it lackey or flunkey?

Well just so you dont feel too bad about the price... Today I was looking to see if redline oils were available here in Australia and I found an Australian distributer online. They only want $38.00 per quart for it.

Every once in a while I find a great deal on craigslist. Two months ago, I found a listing for Amsoil SS 0w30, a gallon plus two quarts, sealed containers, asking $25. Guy said he bought a new car which needed 5w20 and had to get rid of the Amsoil. I was happy to take it off his hands.

Bet you fall into the 15K warranty range?

and

Bet, depending on your car....your lucky to get 15K and still have a decent UOA (used oil analysis)

I am fully prepared to pay $11 a quart for Research Laboratories, Inc. (RLI)'s 15w40 "vegetable oil and Ethanol" Synthetic, and go about, oh a 6,000 mile OCI with it, as one of myc ar says can be done as per Owner's Manual OCI interval.

RLI, 15w40. If "Fuel Dilution" was a concern.

AMSOIL can run with that?

I also can pay $150 for 5 Gallons, which is a savings of about $40-$50. :)

You could cruise around on the Amsoil website and see what the "going" retail price is for the oil you bought.
They have several lines, XL or SS, etc and different prices for each, which is why folks asked which you got.

The Amsoil website also has great information that you might find useful on general maintenance.

Amsoil is a very well respected brand, but NOT cheap.
There are several camps here on this forum, those who pride themselves on spending as little money as possible and those who want the best, regardless of price......and the majority, who fall in between those two extremes.
Most all of us what to take good care of our vehicles, or we would not spend our spare time on this forum.
I respect each extreme and those in between.

You will have to identify where you fall when you decide on what oil to buy.
There are a LOT of very good choices in a range of price points.
I am sure that you want the best oil for your money, but that is not an easy question to answer.

I don't go cheap on oil either, I have been using Redline that I get from OGRacing, $109.45 for a case of 12 quarts, free shipping.
So that comes out to about $9.12 a quart.

If you want to use Amsoil, I would check out the Amsoil folks on this forum, see what they can do for you.
Again, it is a very highly respected oil that I would not hesitate to use, but not a cheap oil.
