Came across this position. Wish it paid better and was not seasonal- but might still look into applying for the position. Pays $30 USD per hour.

"Elk Reduction Worker" ​

Serve as elk reduction team leader of skilled volunteers in lethal removal of elk herd. Use of GPS units, ranger finders, spotting scopes, rifles, hand-held radios, and data loggers is required to efficiently locate and remove elk, collect biological samples, record accurate data. and lead volunteers. Extensive experience using firearms to harvest large animals and spot, stalk hunting techniques. Hiking up to ten miles per day, with backpacks exceeding 70 pounds in weight will be required.​

Younger generations sitting behind keyboards and getting cow and chicken meat at grocery stores instead of harvesting what is available in nature.

When a 75 - 85 mph vehicle or motorcycle rounds a bend or hill top and a full grown moose is standing in the road it's not good for the people in / on the vehicle, or the moose.

Yeah, look at a cross section of our society. I bet there is less than 1% of the population that could hike a 70Lb sack 10 miles in a day AND be a decent shot AND hump an additional 15lb 308 cal(or larger) rifle on the same trip. Most of the 1% that would be capable of that feat are getting paid higher amounts of money for their physical attributes.

I've done culling of depredating deer on a farm. I can't say I enjoyed killing the deer, but I recognized it as a job that needed to be done and I was proud to accomplish a clean and quick kill. I never lost any sleep over killing deer, but I did lose any desire to do sport hunting.
I would imagine any Elk Reduction Worker would feel the same. Culling a herd to ensure their survival is what a true conservationist would do.

All indication are GONs previous occupation wasn't a physical situation. And he traveled alot . Not a recipe for a heavy backpack.

It does sound like a dream job and the pay sounds fine to me. If it was 30 years ago, I would apply.

Pay is fair, but a remote location, hours not guaranteed, and seasonal. Temporary housing and related expenses might exceed the pay.

70lbs is a whole lot, especially for ten miles of more per day. I spent extensive time with a ruck, and the secret when distance is involved is to reduce everything that is not absolutely necessary, and that being slow and steady is actually being fast.

Pablo, I was kinda of counting on you volunteering to be my Sherpa when I was submitting the application earlier today.

I highly doubt the landmass of the USA can support 333.3 million mouths to feed off the straight natural land and animals without farms.
