Forum clean language rules

I've been warned a few times once or twice for words commonly used by even kids, at least kids I know. ;) I've tweaked my proof reading as a result.

@goblin, you can wonder until the end of time where/why the language limits exist, or came from. Some are obvious and make sense, others keep you scratching your head. Bottom line is they are here and most appreciate the atmosphere created by a "clean" environment. Just use the preview feature and you will soon learn the "rules". I actually like that feature as I can be known to use language familiar to the clientele I used to deal with on a daily basis, and I was quite fluent. The preview makes me think of another way to get my point across in a way that is imaginative, yet non-offensive. Keeps the gray matter soft and pliable. Have fun here.

Yes, the preview feature was a nice surprise - I actually thought we didn't have one, as on most platforms it's on the lower right and I wasn't actively looking for it. Then I thought it doesn't work, as it doesn't pop and refresh - rather working directly inline :)

If there is a censored word that makes you scratch your head, then send one of the mods a PM and the mods will discuss it during our monthly calls. We have removed words over the years because there was an ask and it made sense.
"Crap" used to be one of them and it was removed as requested.... not that it was important 😆

I remember one confusing time when the commonly-used term for a radiator drain valve was censored.
Also, one time I was talking about a centrifugal pump at work (Navy days) and we called the electrical junction box something that got filtered out. Those who know, know.

I don't find the rules at this forum difficult or constraining to be honest. Doesn't mean I haven't gotten an IM from a moderatir a time or two.

BONUS OPPORTUNITY:
Say you type something containing questionable language.
.......>And I would find it 'mind blowing' if someone's hands kept typing dirty words. Why wouldn't their brain's filter work then?
Then you either hit "Preview" or proof-read.
This is the bonus opportunity to tighten up everything.
Seize it.

Anyone ever see the movie "A River Runs Through It"? Fairly good for a dull film.
There's a scene where the narrator is coached in writing by his father, "A Presbyterian minister with a Scotsman's sense of thrift. (apparently this pertains to word usage too)".

The father nods approvingly of the son's essay and says, "Good. Make it half as long".
Upon reading the revision, the father says, "Good, half as long [again]".
Exasperatedly, the boy returns to his desk...hands the 3rd version to his dad who says, "Good. Now throw it away".

Imagine having a vocabulary so limited that you cannot navigate the language filter used on this site.
Interesting blanket correlation you are trying to make there. In plenty of cases, you can be assured that it is absolutely false though.

I am one to use every cuss word in the book, and some I made up myself. Having said that I never put them in writing. I like the filters.
My wife says I curse a lot.... 🤣 I disagree though. That said, I can certainly speak to others 100% proper with no cursing. If they curse first, my filter might loosen up a bit but it still depends on the situation or circumstances and with work-related emails, nope, no cursing there, ever. I still won't drop an "F" bomb except with people I've known for a very long time though. Heh, I never cursed in front of my parents until ~10 years ago or so !

Wife and I love Brit crime dramas, etc...
All creature great and small - for adults and teens.

Kipper the dog for little kids.

A parallel universe where only those two exist is one I could still live in (thinking of all the outdoors exercise I'd get😅)
